Welcome to Lighthouse Montessori! Come and belong to our loving, academically rich, colorful pre-preschool, preschool community and kindergarten community for children ages 3-y yo. Validated by research, when implemented correctly, the Montessori Program is an extremely successful methodology for optimal human development. Good education is 1/3 environment, 1/3 prepared adult, 1/3 innovation. PREPARED ADULT Our priorities are 2: (1) to nourish a caring relationship and mutual respect with the child, and (2) to prepare an environment of emotional and physical safety and beauty. We do not watch screens. Educating themselves constantly in language, math, the sciences and social studies, our teachers love to understand and help others understand the beautiful world we live in. From reading to sewing, adding to painting, our community is orderly, beautiful, clean, engaged, hands on and so much fun! We have a Spanish immersion program! Our teachers have invested in authentic and real Montessori, certified by the American Montessori Society, MACTE, and the Utah Montessori Counsel. PREPARED ENVIRONMENT Our room is filled with natural light, beautiful high quality natural wood furniture, live plants and animals. We use only the best materials (prismacolor pencils, glass cups). Mathematics and literature, music and sensorial experiences are part of our everyday routine. The children love to spend their day here. Children know where the materials belong and develop a sense of order. INNOVATION We constantly bring new ideas and presentations to the children on the subjects of animal life, plant life, history, and study of the Earth. We bring in samples, guest speakers, and fuel the child's natural curiosity and love of learning. The children create a community and loving friendships. We have a very small group!
