Plan: All staff has been trained on proper procedure for moving a child including when a child is resisting. Staff have been instructed to always use words (or gestures) first to verbally request a child to come with or follow you. Secondly, always grasp a child by the palm of his hand, never by wrist or by arm or under the arm. Next never pull a child who is resisting but stop immediately. Encourage child to cooperate. Allow the child space and time to self regulate (calm down). Also, staff will be required to wear short nails when working with children to avoid potential scratch. |
