About the Provider

Description: In the event of inclement weather, First Christian Church Child Care Center will be closed for the first day that Edmond Public Schools are closed. We evaluate the condition of weather and roads for the second and subsequent days.

Since 1963 the education building at First Christian Church has been filled with the sights and sounds of children of all ages each weekday. This outreach ministry was begun in response to the need of a single mother who was returning to school to complete her education. We have the distinction of being the first licensed child care facility in Oklahoma.

We offer care Monday through Friday from 6:45am to 6:00pm for children 6 weeks of age through the completion of fifth grade. We offer transportation to area public and private schools at no additional charge, house an Edmond Public Schools Pre-K classroom, and offer Private full-day kindergarten as well with a certified teacher utilizing the A Beka curriculum.

Our mission is to serve children and families by providing an early learning environment that encourages the spiritual, physical, social-emotional, and intellectual development of each individual child at his or her own pace, following state and nationally accepted standards of child care.

We believe a child’s early experiences enrich and foster future growth. Children deserve to be treated and respected as individuals in our Christian environment that welcomes reason, exploration, question, and imagination. We value each child’s need for safety, security, warmth, and acceptance in the promise of God’s love.

As a former employee I felt like I needed to make the public aware that the star ratings that FCCCC has is a complete show. I was was an employee for a few years and have seen the lack of professionalism, organization, care and understanding that the director, supporting staff and church board not only shows to their other employees but for the children and families there as well. Being there I have seen favoritism again not only with staff but as well as certain families. The "problem children" are never shown as much compassion and love as they should be. I believe as a childcare employees that the "problem children" should be shown as much or more love and understanding as the rest of the children. Not only did this behavior by employees, supporting staff, church board and especially the director happen the majority of the time I spent there, but it still continues to happen with no disciplinary actions taken to this childcare center. As I stated before, the star rating for this center is merely a show. The happenings that go on behind closed doors are something that DHS and NAC never sees and is a complete shame. Please highly reconsider your choice in putting your child in this center.
