I worked at this place for many years and seen things that shoul never had happen at a child care center. The Director doesn't support most of her staff only her favorite ones. Also she comes and goes when she feels like it and when she is out getting First Care supplies she is also shopping for her family and it's on the time clock. The Director will put herself on room schedules being available but that's not the case she only pops her head in and says if you need me just call me and leaves the room with the ratio being over what it should be!! She has covered up complaints of some staff members just because she can't believe what your saying. From my knowledge she is supposed to work 40 hours and not once do I know of that she really work that but she will sign her time sheet that she has worked 80 hours in two weeks how is that possible when she comes in between 9-10 and will leave between 4-5 or take a 2 hour lunch when staff members tht were there by 7:00 haven't had there lunch yet.
The children get showen favoritism especially of the staff member has been at the BAR with them or babysits for them on occasion or just because the staff member really likes the parent. There is one staff person in the Waddler Room that is supposed to be the lead teacher. She will share food with the children even if the parent doesn't know. She also sets her own rules rather if the Director likes it or not. She will take the children on long walk through downtown kalamazoo in areas that are not exceptable!! She has also taken the children for walks by herself with 4 or more children in downtown kalamazoo and she doesn't have a cell phone or any means to contact First Care of there is any kind of problem. The Director has a problem with confrontation so she will never stand up to the teacher in this room or the Toddler Room. She shouldn't be a Director in any Child Care because she doesn't have the back bone to stand up for your child!!! The only time she may stand up for the business is if it will reflect on her and then she needs to be looked at. She don't want people to dig to far because she is hiding things!! If you are looking for a great child care with a great Director and great teachers this isn't the place you want to be!! It may all look well at first visit but internally there are a lot of secrets and cover ups and favoritism that goes on in the Day Care!! And in the Toddler Room the Lead Teacher just sitts on her cell phone most of the day and so when you enter the room for the first time an have questions she will tell you that she teaches them how to be independent!! That is because she has them do things for them selves so she don't have to get up out of her chair or off her phone to do anything for the children!! It's very sad to see that there not getting any nuturing and love just making them grow up to fast!!!
Over all I would never take my children to this place or ever recommend First Care!!
I recommend that they hire a new Director and several new staff members!!
