Description: Founded in 1966, the first Deerfield Montessori School was established as a not-for-profit corporation in response to the needs of the community. It is a private, nonsectarian school which has been nationally accredited by the American Montessori Society.
The Riverwoods Montessori School was founded in 1986. It was followed by a second Deerfield location, the Deerfield Montessori Children's House, and, in 1991 by the Glenview Montessori School. The four schools together are known as the Deerfield/North Shore Montessori Schools and are professionally managed by the same team. Each school is staffed with Montessori trained teachers certified by the American Montessori Society and/or the Association Montessori Internationale. In securing the services of professional and volunteer personnel, the Board strives to secure the person most qualified for the position.
