Provider Response: (Contact the State Licensing Office for more
information.) On August 14th, 2019 Teacher B reported to center leadership that she observed Staff#1 lift a child by the arms and speak harshly to the child. Immediately in response, the Center Director placed Staff#1 on Administrative leave and self-reported to the Center's child care licensing agency within the time frames required for such reporting. The Director also shared the information with the child's family who expressed appreciation at the steps the center was taking in response. The Center Director, in collaboration with the Regional Manager, developed a comprehensive retraining plan to ensure incidents like the above do not reoccur. The Center Director met individually with all Center staff on Bright Horizons Positive Guidance, Physical Interactions between staff and children policies and provided a summary retraining of the Mandated Reporter guidelines and expectations which was completed Oct. 1, 2019. Going Forward the Center Director and Assistant Director are conducting frequent classroom observations to ensure staff are following policies and expectations. Staff#1 will not be returning to the Center. Finally, all staff will continue to be trained on Mandated Reporting and all Bright Horizons policies annually. |
