This is not a good school. The teachers are inexperienced and don’t receive enough guidance from the administator Mary Ann. Our child was bullied relentlessly and they did nothing about it for months. In fact they blamed our child. The administration doesn’t listen to parents’ concerns. Taking our child out of this was one of the best decisions we’ve made, even though we lost our security deposit
Cushman is a great pre-school! Organic snacks, kind and inclusive pedagogy, amazing parent community, and last but not least great teachers! Our daughter had a fantastic experience in the South Room (15 mo - 2.9 years). When she had a rough patch transitioning to the next age group, the teachers and director were incredibly responsive and provided her with additional support. We are grateful for a few wonderful years!
Cushman has three classrooms depending on the age of your child. The classroom my daughter was in for 2.9 to 3.9 was not engaging and understimulating. The teachers do not understand how to engage children and facilitate interactions. They also do not believe in toys such as kitchens. They have very simple objects such as legos, rice, and blocks for the kids to play with - which is appropriate for 2 year old classroom. This is supposed to be Reggio inspired but is not. The teachers in this classroom need things to be simple, plain, and clean because they are unable to handle anything beyond that. Some of the children in this classroom wandered around not knowing what to do with their time.
My son, who is now 16 went to Cushman, we still talk about it today. Great teachers and curriculm. He learned so much about fun and sharing and his imagination there. He still keeps in touch with some of his classmates and remembers it there fondly.

About the Provider
Our educational philosophy is based on the Reggio Emilia Approach. Teachers balance structured activities with free play in a program that helps children to develop emotionally, physically and intellectually as they learn about themselves and the world around them.
Our program offers the enriching educational opportunities of a traditional preschool, combined with optional summer and extended-day programs. We offer families flexibility in choosing which days their child attends and for how long, allowing each family to create the Cushman experience that is right for their child.
