Noncompliance Area: When Rep arrived at facility, an infant was observed sleeping in a crib on a boppy pillow in an inclined position. Staff confirmed that the child is under 1 year old. Rep reviewed file and there is no physician's statement regarding a medical reason for a sleeping position other than the position recommended by the AAP. Correction Required: Toys, bumper pads, or pillows may not be present in a crib while an infant is sleeping in the crib. Infants shall be placed in the sleeping position recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics unless there is a medical reason an infant should not sleep in this position.
