Description: Creative Learning Daycare and Preschool is licensed by The State of Ohio to care for children. Prior to our certification, the daycare was inspected by The State of Ohio to insure that strict guidelines for excellence in childcare were being followed. In addition, the owner of the facility had a background investigation, and had to provide written references regarding character and abilities to operate a daycare facility.
Creative Learning Daycare and Preschool is a member of the St. Clairsville Area Chamber of Commerce. We are also a member of CCVillage.com, which is a network of childcare providers who are dedicated to raising the standards of childcare through education, awareness and networking. We also follow Harcatus CAP, Inc., CACFP guidelines for providing healthy meals and snacks for the children.
I, Shayna Parsons, owner and administrator of Creative Learning Daycare and Preschool have a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Ohio University Eastern. I have owned and operated a childcare business for 13 years. I reside in Belmont County with my boyfriend Donnie Buff and his 10 year old daughter Brynleigh.
I enjoy working with the children and their families. It is very rewarding for me to see children learn and grow in a supportive and loving environment. I have attended training workshops in infant and child CPR, effective methods of nurturing positive growth and development in children, and in proper nutrition for children. Also, I attend monthly preschool meetings designed to foster and enhance an effective preschool program.
Our preschool program is in session year round. It is available full or part-time from the ages of 3 to 5 years of age. We collaborate with the Belmont County Head Start Program. We also work with Ohio University Eastern’s and Belmont Technical College's student teaching internship program.
We provide a variety of activities for the children each day. During the preschool sessions, we have crafts, interactive group activities, educational exercises, free play, songs and field trips. We have both indoor and outdoor toys and play equipment available for supervised play. Indoor play areas have a variety of blocks, books, musical instruments, dolls, tools, cars and computer activities. The outdoor play area is a combined: spacious grassy area for running and swinging, and a defined playground toy area complete with slide, playhouse and assorted toys. During the summer we enjoy routine field trips to the local public pool.
