About the Provider

Description: Creative Beginnings opened its doors in 1982 with the goal of providing high quality childcare to St. Mary's County. Licensed by the State of Maryland and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children , our mission is to assure that your child receives the best care available. Our school is a private preschool-day care center serving children from infancy through 5th grade. Young children learn best through manipulation of materials and hands-on experiences. These activities are carefully planned and facilitated by knowledgeable teachers. This learning looks very much like play - but play with purpose and intent. Teachers organize and display materials so that children use them to figure things out, practice skills, and learn new concepts. Children are allowed enough time to explore those materials again and again. Repetition and success develops the confidence to take risks and try more complex and demanding activities. We believe in a developmental approach to education and that children go through an orderly series of developmental stages but at different rates. National accreditation is essential to our mission of maintaining the highest standards of care available.

Date Inspection Type Regulations Status
2020-02-05 Mandatory Review 13A.16.03.06A(2) Corrected
Findings: There were three employees who were no longer working at the center. The licensing specialist received the personnel staff change form deleting these individuals during this visit.
2019-01-29 Full 13A.16.10.02E Corrected
Findings: The center needs to add tape to their First Aid Kit. Once this is completed the licensing specialist will be notified.
2019-01-29 Full 13A.16.03.06A(2) Corrected
Findings: One staff member left in November 2018 and the licensing specialist just found out during this inspection. A staff change form was completed by the director during this visit.
2018-08-13 Complaint 13A.16.08.03C Corrected
Findings: Discussed regulation. The complaint alleged that there were approximately 7 or 8 children in the 2 year old classroom with only one staff member. During this visit, this classroom had two staff present. However, the three/four year old classroom was observed to have 16 children with only 1 teacher. The other staff was due to arrive in 15 minutes. The director will re-arrange schedules so there will be two staff in this room earlier than currently scheduled to maintain staff/child ratio.
2017-12-18 Mandatory Review 13A.16.03.05B Corrected
Findings: There were no staffing patterns posted in any of the classrooms. Staffing patterns are completed and the licensing specialist has copies of them but they need to be posted in the classrooms. The licensing specialist will be notified when this is completed.
2017-12-18 Mandatory Review 13A.16.10.04I(1) Corrected
Findings: In the school age room, there was one blind cord on the blue blind that was not secured. Once this is secured, the licensing specialist will be notified.
2017-12-18 Routine 13A.16.11.03A Corrected
Findings: There was no hand washing poster posted near the hand washing sink in the kitchen. When this is completed, the licensing specialist will be notified. There were hand washing posters posted at every other hand washing sink in the center.
2017-02-06 Routine
Findings: No Noncompliances Found
