About the Provider
Community Nursery School is a cooperative nursery school with a constructivist approach to education. For over sixty years, the needs and rights of our children and the desire to work together have brought families to Community Nursery School.
At CNS, children are seen as unique individuals who come together to share and explore their world through interaction with a wide range of materials. Together they learn to respect and appreciate both their similarities and their differences. As individuals, they are encouraged to build upon their existing knowledge and grow in the way that is most comfortable to them.
Our mission at CNS is to foster social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth within the context of a nurturing and engaging atmosphere. Our work is guided by the following principles and goals:
Helping children feel sure of themselves and comfortable with others.
Making this confidence the base from which they explore the world around them.
Fostering learning by creating a rich and engaging classroom environment.
Considering the transition from home to school as a time of joy, growth and learning.
CNS provides opportunities that support the developmental needs and rights of all children served. CNS offers:
A stimulating and enriching environment where children are encouraged to explore, experiment and make investigations that support all areas of learning and development.
Teachers who see children as competent and capable of constructing knowledge as they provide provocations, encouragement and support.
