Date Type Regulations Status
2022-02-17 Complaint 13A.16.02.01E Corrected
Findings: The center has an outdated license in the office where the parents do not go. The center needs to post the most recent license in an area that can easily be seen and read whenever parents or others visit the center. The licensing specialist will mail another copy of the license for the center to post. Please send a copy of the license posted.
2022-02-17 Complaint 13A.16.04.01B Corrected
Findings: The complaint is that the infant teacher, S.B., was left in the room (D) with 4 infants. The teacher said that the director, A.H., was in the room with her but the owner, C.P., requested she come in the office to assist her. Not only is this against the staff child ratio of 1 to 3, but that particular room is only approved for a total of 3 infants. The owner was interviewed and she did confirm that she requested that the director assist her in the office which is through the doorway. The owner said she understands the staff/child ratio but thought since it was just through the doorway there was no harm. The licensing specialist explained that once the staff steps outside the room they are considered out of the classroom so the ratio is compromised. The specialist will review the measurements of that room to see if the capacity can be increased. The other alternative is to use room C which is approved for up to 8 children (if this option is used the door between the room needs to remain closed or a gate put up so that the children can not go back on forth). The staff child ratio of 1-3 must still be maintained.
2022-02-17 Complaint 13A.16.04.02D Corrected
Findings: The complaint alleges on Friday, February 11, 2022, a 20 month old child was in Claire's II, this center is only approved for 2 years and above. This licensing specialist interviewed the teacher, J.T., that was working that day in Claire's II. She explained on Friday she saw a parent go to the infant building to drop her child off. Because there was no staff in that center she allowed the child to come in the preschool classroom. This licensing specialist explained to J.T. that the center is not approved for children under 2 years old. If this were to happen again she would need to explain to the parent that she has the option to wait in her car with the child until the building is staffed but may not allow the child in the preschool classroom. This was also discussed with the owner, C. P., she said that she was present in the building when this happened and was in the office writing paychecks, she requested J.T. to give her a moment so she could finish up and then she went with the child to Claire's III. By this time the infant teacher had arrived and was in the classroom.

Findings: A complaint was received alleging that on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, teacher, S.B., was left alone in the classroom with 4 infants. The complaint alleged that the director, A.H., was in the classroom with S.B. but the owner requested that A.H. assist her in the office that is just through the doorway. The owner was interviewed and she confirmed that this is what happened. The owner stated she understands the child/staff ratio regulation but thought because it was just through the doorway there was no harm. The licensing specialist explained that once the staff steps outside the room they are considered out of the classroom so the ratio is compromised.

Findings: Currently only room D is being used. There were two trash cans in the room, one had a liner and lid but the other trash can did not have a lid or liner. The teacher said she uses the one trash can with the lid for discarding diapers and other things. The one trash can with the lid needs to be used for diapers only while the other trash can needs to have a liner in it and used for other trash. It is important for all children to have fresh air and sunshine on a daily basis, it can be as simple as putting the children in the stroller and walking them around outside.
