The center is in a prime location, but they know this and take advantage of the personnel in the area and the lack of childcare availability. At 8 WEEKS pregnant I deposited $50 to be put on the waitlist, the center told me they would contact in the near future with availability. They never did, at six months pregnant I called and left multiple messages to find out where I was on the waitlist. I had to personally go into the center to get someone to talk to me, they still could not tell me the estimated wait time or where I was on the waitlist. I finally received a call back to be told it was an 18-24 MONTH wait. When my child was born (8 MONTHS) after I was placed on the waitlist, I called again and was still told 24 MORE MONTHS. I decided to leave my child's name on the waitlist. TWO YEARS later I received an email from the childcare provider stating they were cleaning up their waitlist and if I did not respond they would simply take me off. I responded and told them I had since moved and requested my deposit back. The response was it was nonrefundable... how is it that I was not told when I dropped off the $50 deposit I would NEVER get in, that my child would be AT LEAST two years old before she is considered for the infant slot? While it "may only be $50" how many other families has this center done this to?
