About the Provider
The Children’s Center Early Intervention and Family Support is a specialized provider of services in central Maine for young children with developmental delays and disabilities such as pervasive developmental disorder, intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, autism, and more. We provide a continuum of center-based therapies and care for young children with disabilities that is simply not offered in this same format anywhere else in the region. The Children's Center has been providing services for children with special needs and their families since 1966.
The Center’s primary facility operates in Augusta, Maine, and provides early intervention and pediatric therapies (speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and mental health services) in an inclusive, learning-rich child care environment, to children from six weeks to six years of age. Our targeted case management, community-based behavioral health professionals, and parent and provider education programs serve families of children with special needs (through age 12) in Kennebec and Somerset Counties. We have a satellite office in Skowhegan providing multiple family services, and we provide services (BHP, TCM) and programs (a Relatives as Parents Program, the “Grandest Parents”) in Waterville, as well.
