Findings: The site director indicated that they are using S.P. as a school age teacher, however, the licensing specialist does not have documentation that she has all the required coursework to be qualified as a school age teacher. 2023-04-19 | Complaint | 13A.16.08.02B | Corrected |
Findings: When the Licensing Specialist (LS) arrived to the center the director was present along with two aides. There were a total of 15 children present. The director indicated they are using the one aide as a teacher, because according to them, she has completed the required coursework and is qualified. This LS does not have documentation that this is accurate. The site director is on the staffing pattern to meet staff child ratio, however, she reports she starts 30 min after the center opens and in the afternoon she does not arrive until 4:30 but children arrive at 3:30. There is one other qualified teacher but she reportedly only works 3 days a week. If the information is correct that the aide has the required coursework to be a teacher this would take care of the problem in the morning as they report they never have more than 30 children. In the afternoon the site director reports there are times when more than 30 children are present so there would need to be at least 2 qualified teachers and two aides depending on the total number of children.
2023-04-19 | Complaint | 13A.16.08.03D(3) | Corrected |
Findings: According to the hours that the site director provided for each staff, there is a period of time from 6:00am to 6:30am and again 3:30pm to 4:30pm where there are only two aides present. However, one of the aides reports she has taken the coursework to be teacher qualified. The director reports the attendance in the morning is lower and they never go over 30 children, however, in the afternoon they average about 40 children. The director indicated that there is a teacher that works 3 days a week but those days vary. The center will need to be sure there is a qualified teacher for every 15 children and in a group of more than 15 children (with max size of 30) there needs to be at least one teacher and one aide. The center will need to correct the staffing issues and send an updated staffing pattern to reflect the correction.
