Findings: The complainant provided pictures from the provider's Facebook page showing daycare children playing in an inflatable pool. The provider stated she had permission from the parents and thought a low pool was okay for use. Written permission from the parents does not go above the regulations which do not allow for any fill-and-drain pools. Pool use is only allowed at pools approved by the health department (public pools). There are many regulations that apply to providers when taking children to a public pool (supervision, additional staff, etc.). The pictures are from a May 2018 water play day in the provider's backyard. During the provider's full inspection in July 2018, a child's inflatable pool was observed on the deck gated off. The provider was told the pool must be emptied while child care children are present as she stated the pool was for her son's use only. The provider was reminded of the regulations regarding approved water play activities in child care (water tables, sprinklers). The inflatable pool was not present at the time of the inspection. The pool should be used for private use only when there are no child care children present.

Findings: The provider stated one of the child care children was bitten by her cat, Jack. The child received medical treatment for the bite as it became infected. The police did respond to the provider's home to obtain vaccination information on the cat. The provider could not find the documentation so the cat received a rabies vaccination again in June 2018. The provider was supposed to notify the licensing specialist when the bite occurred and tell the licensing specialist when the child received medical treatment for the bite wound. The cat was not observed during the inspection and typically stays in the second floor bedroom area or outside. There have been no previous incidents with the cats and child care children.

Findings: The provider left the residence for a very brief time to given something to a person in the parking lot. She also put an infant to nap upstairs leaving the preschool children and another infant on the main level of the home. The provider needs to stay on the same level of the home whenever there are awake infants or preschool children present in the home. Children under the age of two should be napping on the same level of the home as the provider. The video and sound monitoring system should be used if the infant is in another room on the same level as the provider.

Findings: The provider did not physically check on the napping infant every 15 minutes. She did check on her phone to see the child from the video monitoring system. The provider is reminded she must physically check on the child at least every 15 minutes. |
