Description: In case we have not met, Carriage House Children's Center, Inc., founded in 1974, has earned a reputation in Pittsburgh as a model developmental program for children ages six weeks to six years. We offer a varied and flexible program that emphasizes the importance of each child as a unique and valued person.
Our Center is non-profit, non-sectarian, and conveniently located in Squirrel Hill in the Wightman School Community Building. We offer part-time and full-time care for families. The Center, which is open from 7:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, is accredited by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs and licensed by the Department of Public Welfare. The pre-school is also licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
The Carriage House Children's Center also manages an affiliate of Magee-Womens Hospital, The Children's Center of Pittsburgh. It, too provides care for children ages six weeks to six years. The Center is located at 327 Craft Avenue in Oakland. The Children's Center houses a Get Well Room, which provides child care for mildly ill children and is available to all of our families.
Our founder, Natalie A. Kaplan, who has been teaching and directing childcare programs in the Pittsburgh area for more than 30 years, directs our highly qualified staff. The staff includes a program director and experienced early childhood educators dedicated to implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum.
