Connect, Seek Advice, Share Knowledge
Cambridge appears deceptively nice at first glance. When you enter, the building is newer, things are clean, and the smell is pleasant due to all the scented candles and plug-ins. I can only speak to the care in the infant room specifically, as we only attended for three months before looking elsewhere for child care. After meeting with both the Owner, Tracy, and the head teacher of the infant room regarding expectations and details of our child upon enrollment, all items discussed were explicitly ignored. My child was given solid food for the first time without my permission, given a pacifier (that we did not provide), and KISSED ON THE MOUTH BY THE OWNER HERSELF. While the first two items were minor, and could be forgiven once addressed, kissing a child anywhere on the face and ESPECIALLY ON THE LIPS, is never acceptable in a public daycare setting. When confronted and told not to kiss my child at all, Tracy responded by saying that my husband and I are unreasonable, and she and her facility cannot meet these expectations. Aside from the irrefutable fact that this is dangerous and unsanitary (as babies touch their faces and put their hands in their mouth), IF A PARENT TELLS YOU THEY ARE NOT COMFORTABLE WITH THE LEVEL OF INTIMATE AFFECTION YOU ARE SHOWING THEIR CHILD, THE ONLY ACCEPTABLE RESPONSE IS TO STOP! After meeting with Tracy and discussing this for an absurd amount of time, she refused to even agree to make an effort to avoid kissing my child on the face. We began looking for other options immediately.
Bottom line is, as a parent of a child at Cambridge, you and your choices for how to raise your child are not valued or respected.
You are your child's only advocate. Do your yourself and your child a favor and choose another facility.
