About the Provider

Burnett is a located in beautiful Long Beach California. We are a single track (Track B)year round K-5 school servicing about 1000students. Our students are from diverse backgrounds including Hispanic African American Cambodian and Vietnamese. Burnett has 50 classroom teachers three Reading Specialist one Reading Recovery teacher a Resource Specialist a Speech and Language Specialist and a Librarian. Vocal and instrumental music teachers work three days with Burnett students. Teachers are engaged in ongoing professional development. Staff development is the focus of weekly staff meetings. District math and literacy consultants regularly visit classrooms to provide support for teachers. All new teachers have a Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment Project (BTSA) coach. A New Teacher Coach supports first and second year teachers. Teacher meet in grade level teams to plan evaluate and support one another in their work to improve their teaching strategies and to improve student achievement.
