Children inspire lesson plans as they share their interests with teachers; teachers will provide content by having a sound understanding of child related activities and materials that enable children to participate in activities matched to their various learning styles as well as providing a wide variety of developmentally appropriate materials for children to openly explore at their own pace. The Boys & Girls Club Preschool/Junior Kindergarten students get the opportunity to use the full size gym as well as the Art Room at the Boys & Girls Club on a daily basis. The Preschool/Junior Kindergarten teacher has 6 years of experience of working at the Boys & Girls Club of Brookings, a B.S. in Early Childhood Education and a M.S. in Family and Child Studies.
The Boys & Girls Club of Brookings Preschool/Junior Kindergarten program is an all day, Monday through Friday program. Youth can be dropped off at the Boys & Girls Club at 7:45 am each morning. The Preschool/Junior Kindergarten program finishes each day at 3:30 pm (2:30 pm on Wednesdays). However, the Boys & Girls Club of Brookings offers a Continued Education program that goes until 6 pm each night.
