About the Provider

At University Hill Elementary School we are creating new traditions. Founded in 1906, University Hill is Boulder’s oldest elementary school. But as the world has changed, so has University Hill. We now offer a dual language program with instruction in both English and Spanish. From pre-school to fifth grade, our children are actively engaged in learning two languages as well as the normal BVSD elementary curriculum. Our classrooms are exciting places. Half of our entering kindergarteners come from native Spanish speaking households; half speak English in the home. Our staff is equally diverse. Teachers hail from Bogota, Mexico City, Santiago and San Juan. And Chicago, New York, and Longmont. All grade level teachers are fluent in both English and Spanish. We celebrate our diversity. It presents educational challenges, but adds vibrancy. It also explains our dedication to social justice. Equity, respect and understanding are cornerstones of our school community.
