have a 3 year old son. He attended this daycare for roughly 4 months. Really 3 because he was out for a month due to surgery. After his recovery and his first week back to daycare he was turned away because he didnt have a doctor note from surgery. Tonsils and adenoid were removed nothing contagious. Still for 3 days he couldn't go because we had to get the note from the hosipitial. This started the eye opening process to this daycare. He has never brought home any artwork or activities. When i brought this up to the teacher today (which was his last day) suprisingly he had artwork. Honestly it looks like they made him do everything today. Mrs Loriane which is the director seems very sketchy. She is very policy orientated and makes you sign everything and anything. Almost to a point where is looks like she is covering up something. She follows JPSS days off. The week of thanksgiving she closes her daycare for the week but makes sure you sign policies stating you are responsible for tuition even though she is electivity closing. I don't know. This place feels more clinical than anything. Its very cold and not colorful. My child has expressed being hit and bitten. However never ever said from the staff. I have an uneasy feeling about this place. Use your best judgement however i do not and will not recommend this place to anyone
My 2 girls & I have been going to Balloons & Lollypops since '08. My youngest has been there for over a year. My oldest still goes there during the summer. She always wants to go back even though she's in school. She was ready for school due to the great teaching lessons they have. They give each child the love, care, attention, & learning skills they need. I wouldn't bring my children anywhere else. I've seen a lot of other so called "child care centers" & was horrified. To the "concerned grandparent" below, I don't intend to offend you in anyway but I think you should learn about scarf training before allegations are spat out. I've learned about scarf training & it'd completely 100% safe & harm free. It's used for safety & training purposes. Safety reasons are for children who are to big for a high chair, yet still to small for their chair. It's keeps them from falling & flipping out for their chair. I've seen kids flip & fall out of their chairs. They bust their lip, hit their teeth, knock their head on the table, & hit the floor hard. Scarf training keeps this from happening. For training reasons, it's teaches them how to sit, how to sit properly, & to sit right when it's time to sit. You obviously are looking at this as a restraining thing but honestly you restrain your child everyday when you put them in their car seat. The risk of your child getting hurt in a car seat, then with scarf training. Even though this isn't practiced at Balloons & Lollypops, it's a safe, effective training method. Balloons & Lollypops is by far the best child care center I've seen. My children love all the teachers & I wouldn't have it any other way.
I sadly had to take my daughter out of Balloons and Lollipops for issues of my own but was beyond excited when I could finally put her back into their care. I have never had a daycare give such care and devotion to my child. She is always so excited to go to daycare in the morning. Of course she is happy to see me when I go to pick her up, yet when we go to leave half of the time she tries to go back. I'm so glad I could find Balloons and Lollipops before I put my daughter into another daycare that would never compare to the service they provide.
I was very disturbed to learn that my granddaughter was being tied to a plastic chair with a scarf. All because she's a little active while trying to eat her lunch. Thank God my daughter went to pick her up early or we never would have known. This is a disgrace to all child care workers everywhere. PARENTS: take your child out of this place before they're scared for life.
I love balloons and lollipops daycare. My son has went there from 2y/o-5. I travel all the way to Metairie from Destrehan to bring him there. It's worth every Pennie. They made him so ready for school and he is doing great. Thanks to the care of the wonderful teachers at balloons and lollipops.
