Management practically doesn't exist. The owner is barely ever there and when she is it doesn't seem like she is doing much but sitting in the office on her cell. Sometimes she is at her computer but who knows if she is actually doing anything. Within the last year I have seen management change multiple times. Turn over for teachers is so extremely high and I am guessing that is because the places never seems well staffed for the amount of kids they have. I am also guessing it would have something to do with how disorganized management seems to be. Management doesn't seems to communicate with teachers and that makes figuring out anything extremely difficult and frustrating. The teachers seem to be overwhelmed and worn out. Some of their teachers seem to have no clue how to work with children which is highly concerning and I can only imagine how stressful that is for the staff who are competent. I have also noticed that a lot of wonderful teachers have left the center and the ones who are still there seem to become more and more unhappy with their job.
Did I mention that the place looks dirty all the time and most of the toys the children play with look like they were got of 50 cents at a garage sale?!
Not to mention the playground area is way out dated and their "clubhouse" is absolutely disgusting!!!
I would NEVER recommend this place to ANYONE.
My wife and I decided to enroll our 9 month old son at the Alphabet Academy in West Des Moines last week. They placed him in the toddlers room instead of the infants. Keep in mind the infants room goes up to 9 months. With that being said, they wouldn’t put my son down for more than 1 nap a day, since he was with the “big” kids. My son is used to take 2 to 3 naps a day, so you can imagine how exhausted he was by the time we picked him up from the daycare. He used to get home from the Babysitter we had before and play with us, but now he would fall asleep as soon as we put him in the car seat. We felt so bad for him that after only 3 days we decided to look for a different daycare. My wife left work and went there to pick him up. Later that day we had to take our son to the hospital because he wouldn’t stop vomiting. I looked at the daycare report for the day and it said they had given him cow milk. My wife called the next day to ask if they gave him milk and they said no. So the report isn’t accurate right?! Did they actually change the diapers when the report said they did? What about naps? Did they really nap during the time reflected on the report? Long story short, they said we would have to pay for 2 weeks of daycare because the contract said so. I guess I shouldn’t expect any flexibitly from a daycare like that.
