Findings: The director states that infant room 1, 2 staff and 6 children ages 12m-18m was temporarily relocated to the Arbutus room from about 1030am-215pm so that plumbers could work on the tank located in that room. The Arbutus room is not approved on the license as alternate space. The director states she thought the room had been approved long before she started as the children sometimes play in there when they are not able to go outside. LS explained that the program will need to submit a changes form to request the room to be approved.

Findings: LS observed 2 aides alone in room 8 with 8 3yo. The director states she submitted a variance for one of the teachers over a week ago to her LS. She just remembered this morning that the LS is on leave so she sent it to the LS who is currently covering. This LS explained that until a variance response is received, the program can not use an aide as a teacher. This LS called the RM, who confirmed that the program is able to use the aide as a substitute if they need to and must keep the sub log as required. The director states she will use the staff as a sub until she hears back about the variance and will keep the sub log.
