Description: The Young Parents Program is located on the Mountain Shadows Education Center's campus and provides a supportive environment for pregnant and parenting teenagers to continue to take high school courses to earn credit towards attaining their diplomas. In addition, students take parenting courses and care for their children on site in a state-licensed day care center fully equipped with computer work stations. A learning center for the children of young parents enrolled in this program serves three distinct age groups: Infants, Toddlers, and Immediate/Preschool. To supplement parent interaction, children benefit from professional educators assisting in the child's physical and academic development. The three separate learning areas include. A nursery, complete with computer work stations, provides a place for young parents to study and care for their infants. Toddlers are housed in an area where parents can study while supervising active one and two year olds. Preschool age children have a separate activity area where parents can study while children engage in their own learning activities.
