ACDS Inc. Brook's Child Development Head Start

Head Start is a Federal program for preschool children and their families whose income falls at or below the Federal Income guidelines. This includes children who have been determined to have a disability. The Head Start program is operated by a team of professionals. These professionals have a wide variety of experience in the Head Start program, early childhood practices and believe in a developmentally appropriate environment for preschoolers. Head Start has been in existence in Avoyelles Parish since 1965.

Our program works with both the child and the family to provide a variety of educational activities. The children also receive medical and dental care, healthy nutritious meals and snacks, indoor activities as well as enjoying the outdoors in a safe environment. Services are offered to meet the special needs with disabilities.

Our program provides children with activities that help them grow mentally, socially, emotionally and physically. Our Staff realizes that the first and most important teachers of the children are their parents. We welcome your involvement in Head Start activities and will work as partners with you to help your child progress forward.
