Leaving home and moving to a shelter is often a difficult decision for parents. Often it is when the abuse is turned upon the children that a survivor realizes the abuse will not only continue but also be directed at their children. And the survivor decides to leave. However there can also be concern about uprooting the lives of their children. Because SafePlace has always recognized and appreciated this difficult decision, support for both the adult survivor and their children have been integrated into the services the agency provides.
