About the Provider
Research has shown that between the hours of 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. violent juvenile crimes is tripled and also during these hours children are more at risk for becoming victims of crime. The difference between a typical school day and business hours often times are as much as 25 hours a week which means during this time youth can often be found unattended which increases their risk for unhealthy behaviors. It is also indicated that children gain their independence through unsupervised time and which makes positive influences greatly important. While stress in a child’s life increases it becomes difficult in engaging in healthy connections with other individuals.
The Salvation Army After School Program allows for children between the ages of 5 and 14 years old a safe environment that is designed to provide educational activities, academic support, social skills interactions, tools to make good and positive choices, help develop special interests, and physical activity all under the umbrella of Christian values and leadership.
Our programs serve Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, Denton, and Ellis counties. Each operate Monday – Friday and follow each counties school district calendar. Currently we operate several formal (licensed) and informal after-school programs. Hours of operation and program fees vary by location.
