Description: Simmons Elementary School is a student-centered school with a diverse population from various ethnicities. Our school is home to the district’s Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program, and our Academic Team has been champion at the District Governor's Cup competition for the past 22 years and champion at the Regional Governor's Cup nine times since 1996. Our Guidance Program includes Second Steps, small group sessions and bi-weekly classroom lessons. We participate in the 4H program during fourth grade, and the D.A.R.E. and conservation programs at the fifth grade level. There are many clubs for our students to participate in including Media, Journalism, and the Bouncing Bulldogs, our jump rope team. Each grade takes a variety of field trips throughout the year that focus on the Kentucky Core Content. We offer a daily after school program for students plus an extended school services program to help students who are struggling academically.
