LeeAnn Perrys Academy of Learning Center

I am a parent of a two year old and four year old. Perry’s unexpectedly bought over our current daycare Fricchione Daycare. We paid a lot at Fricchione compared to what Perry’s charged. Instead of lowering our payments to match their other daycare they kept our prices the same. All of our teachers left because they didn’t pay them well with no benefits or retirement. Our teachers were amazing so it was very upsetting to see them go. They also canceled our cleaning service and made teachers clean instead. They no longer offer snack and milk either so not only do we send in lunch but we also have to provide snacks etc. at Fricchione we had excellent teachers these new teachers are young and just alright. I couldn’t really tell you what the new teachers were doing because we didn’t get many updates. There’s a lot of teacher turnover, which is very unfortunate. Also, at our old for Shawnee facility they had lots of parties for the kids where they would offer pizza etc. that has all ended as well. I feel like the new owners aren’t very nice and friendly. I felt like this was more of a business transaction and a lot of parents unfortunately are leaving because of this.

I have used Perry's Learning Center since they opened and have my last child there. My children were and are very well taken care of. My children couldn't wait to go to school and were very happy whenever I walked in to pick them up at the end of the day. My older children are thriving in grade school from their ECE experience. I would recommend Perry's to anyone.

All of my children have grown up with LeeAnn and her staff. Are some teachers better than others, sure BUT I haven't heard of or witnessed one that does not put the childrens best interest in the forefront. All of my children are well cared for and extremely intelligent and I thank LeeAnn and her staff for that everyday. This is a daycare that I would recommend to anyone without hesitation.

It's truly sad as to how many injuries happen at Perry's Daycare in the short time they've been opened from bite marks on babies to SIDS.
Sell this daycare to someone who knows what they're doing.
Here are just some of the injuries that we have heard and/or experienced with this daycare:
Recurring bite marks, welts/bruises from highchair tables, dislocated/fractured shoulders, little fingers closed in doors, broken bones, SIDS, etc..
The children basically play in the back parking lot, which is cement. Injuries do happen with children. it's human nature, but a lot of these injuries should/can be prevented by pure common sense and supervision.

I agree with the previous reviewer as well. These children get sick so often due to the shuffling of them to meet ratio requirements and the lack of cleanliness. A worker from there has actually voiced her concern over this in the past.
The owners also seem to charge different parents different rates and charge a lot, but pay a lot of the workers next to nothing.
unfortunately, she seems to talk about the families behind their backs.
Besides professionalism, I didn't think you were allowed to discuss another child's potty training, teething issues, ailments, injuries, etc., with other parents.

All child injuries suffered at daycare centers should be made known to the public to help parents make better informed decisions, but they are not.
We seem to have a broken system when it comes to childcare in this state and hopefully someday that gets rectified.

When the time came for my son to attend preschool I chose one close to home: LeeAnn Perry's Academy of Learning Center.  I didn't research other preschools in the area and I should have.

The Center itself is new, as in only a little over one year old.  The building it's housed in is not - think of what your grandmother's home would have looked liked in 1960 and that's what LAPALC resembles.  Some may now be grumblig "appearances aren't important" and they aren't, but safety is.  The main flooring throughout this school is that of old, hard tile, and a flooring material that I consider hazardous.  It's surface gets slippery easily, babies being to toddle are unsteady on their feet, and if a fall should happen there's no cushion.

I can't say that LeeAnn and her staff don't clean her property daily but I do question whether or not they do.  My son started at the school when he was 3 1/2 and had been to see his pediatrician for only well visits prior.  He had a horrifying total of 22 visits to his doctor during his 9 month stint at LAPALC.  Bronchitis, flu, and pink eye were the reasons behind 19 of those visits.  A daycare / preschool should be properly cleaned from top to bottom at the end of each day.  Lysol should be their best friend.  I don't feel that it was.

If you were to ask me what he learned while there, I couldn't say.  When I'd pick him up and ask what he did I'd get "watched TV".  At his age, his mind should have been being stimulated - letters, numbers, age appropriate critical thinking skills.  He did however produce a very large number of nicely colored pictures.  Physical activity should be another priority in preschools, especially since our children have the highest rate of childhood obesity documented in history.  During the warmer months he was allowed outside, into a very small space with turf, for 30-60 minutes.  During the colder months, there was no physical activity whatsoever.

Price is also another factor and perhaps the absolute biggest concern.  As I mentioned before I did not research other schools but have since come to find out that what LeeAnn charges daily for a toddler is what other daycare / preschool combinations charge for a newborn and infant.  Newborn and infant rates are ALWAYS higher than those in their preschool years.  Since switching (to a much better preschool, might I add) I've saved over $200/month.

While LeeAnn's daycare / preschool may be fine for some, it wasn't for us.  My son hated going to "school", he now ASKS to go.  He's 4 1/2 now and is reading simple books, doing simple math, and figuring out answers to his questions on his own.  To be paying $225 less each month while seeing and knowing he's 100% prepared for kindergarten this fall makes me shake my head.  I should have researched first.
