I have used this provider for more than 6 months

I didn’t want to leave a bad review and never have for anything in my life but this has been on my mind heavy for weeks. The teachers at the West YMCA daycare are wonderful (Bailey, Mela, Maria). The problem(s) are up top with Lindsey & Renee. My son (4) is super smart, cute, happy, energetic, loving, (yes maybe biased but rightfully so) eager to say the least. My son like many 4 year olds loves to test boundaries. He also loves all the attention. His biggest problem according to the school was him running out the classroom. I can see how this could be a safety concern because a teacher would have to chase after him to bring him back in and leave children unattended but this is your job. This is what you chose as a career and went to school for. One why is there only one teacher in a classroom and two why are the doors left open? Especially if you know it’s an issue. I would get daily updates on my sons behavior. When he had a bad morning they would write in detail what he did wrong. When he had a good morning I would get a message saying he had a good morning and not in detail what made it good. There was so much emphasis on how bad he was that negative vibe would come home and project in his behavior here. I don’t understand how Lindsey became director or even her side kick Renee stays in her position. They sent my son home at least 4-5 times for things that should have been talked about or dealt with at school. I went to school in Chicago and if someone called a parent there to come pick up there children and leave work because they ran out of a classroom to play they would get hung up on. My final decision to move my son to a new school was when they suggested bringing in a specialist to observe my son and give them advice. This was almost laughable and the moment I read the message I looked into a new school and he was enrolled two days later. Ever since my son started his new teacher says is days are excellent! I love it. I explained why o left the other school and they said the day they couldn’t take care of a 4 year old they would quit. I love it now his teachers are awesome the director/owner even better! My biggest reason for this review is when I emailed about leaving all the great teachers at the YMCA told us how they’ll miss My son and sad that he’s leaving but the two ladies up too Renee and Lindsey said nothing. They never responded never said bye and I’m sure they were actually happy. But good or bad as a “leader” you should at least say something. Dont put your child here if you want a personable homey school that actually cares. This is a McDonald’s like franchise where only the money matters.

Foster Cognitive, Physical and Social Development We offer the best child care with a strong curriculum based on the YMCA four core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.

With so many demands on today's families and the increased focus on early childhood development, families need all the support they can get to nurture the potential of youth. We support children by providing a safe and healthy place to learn foundational skills, develop healthy, trusting relationships and build self-reliance through the Y values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

At the Y, we believe the values and skills learned early on are vital building blocks for quality of life and future success. That's why our child care programs are staffed with people who understand the cognitive, physical and social development of kids, the need children have to feel connected and supported in trying new things, and the caring and reinforcement parents and families need to help each other.
