I am an employee

After being hired in I noticed right away there were a lot of issues. RATIO was a big one and found that on MULTIPLE occasions the state had written up violations due to ratio. On my first day I observed teachers leaving their classrooms and the owner (stepping in as a teacher) doing so as well. What really concerned me was there was no gate or door for the kitchen and children could run right in and hurt themselves. Chemicals were left on the floor, cabinets were not child proof, and the cook was also stepping in classrooms while working back and forth in the kitchen. The kitchen and over all center was COVERED from head to toe in thick amounts of dust and even had paint chipping and exposed wires (reachable for children). There was trash in the first aid kits and most supplies were gone or opened (not sterile). Toys did not work and were even broken and schedules were not followed. The infant/toddler room was in the same room as the front door and most of the time it was unlocked and kids would run over and try to open it. Kids often left their classroom without letting a teacher know. Teachers would also be found on their cell phones and not paying attention to children and children were left unsupervised. Food wasn't healthy either; there was a lot of fried food and the cook never followed the menu. Parents would get one menu and they would be preparing whatever they had. Nothing was labeled or stored properly and left to rot. Outside playground was not age appropriate and most bikes were broken or unusable. I was employed during the cold months in Michigan and they never put out ice or shovel; leaving it slippery were kids could fall and hurt themselves. The entrance to the center was also this way as well. Over-all I do not recommend this center to ANYONE as they have many write ups from the state and the center is a time bomb away of being shut down. Paperwork isn't filed correctly and staff isn't properly certified (the state also wrote them up for this as well). All the write ups are listed online; I encourage everyone to read them before even considering to leave your children here.

Good afternoon, Your organization sees all kinds of children and families everyday and I’m sure some of those kids have special needs or have siblings that do. I would like the opportunity to tour your facility and chat with one of your team members about the FREE facilitation and mediation special education services Oakland Mediation Center (OMC) has to offer. We also provide FREE mediation services for parenting time, custody, and any other child focused matters. I am not selling anything, I’d like to educate your team about the underutilized free services children and families in your community can benefit from. I’m local and have flexible hours so early mornings or later evenings are not off of the table. Would you have time to meet with me in the near future? I look forward to visiting you soon!
