My 4 month old daughter received a 2nd degree burn while being cared for at Tick Tock. I was never called at work and my pick up time was not until 2 hours after the incident occured. The teacher did notify me when I walked in the door and had me sign their incident form which completely downplayed what happened. I spoke with the Director (Peggy) about not being notified and she stated they did not feel it was an emergency for me to leave work. Last I checked a 2nd degree burn on an infant is an emergency and I should be the one who decides the need to leave work. Prior to this incident I called about her having feces on foot which most likely occured during a diaper change. The employee I notified never even communicated this incident with the Director.
Needless to say, after these 2 reported incidents (a 3rd incident I never reported to them) my child has not returned. I also filed a police report with Northfield Police Department and provided photos of the burn, they contacted DCFS to conduct an investigation. I also contacted the owner and received a refund for the credit I had left on my account. They are lucky I did not forward my pediatrician bill and right now looks like the burn will not leave a scar.
