Description: The goal ofÿour preschool is to help children discover and develop their own unique characteristics as they grow mentally, socially, emotionally and physically. The school encourages development of these skills and talents by providing opportunities for conversation, sharing, and appreciation of others. Experimentation with art, music, math, science, books, and dramatic play to become more aware of their world. Free-play to encourage social growth and individual exploration. Group activities planned by the teachers to incorporate learning with fun. Carefully chosen music, dance, games, and art activities to develop large and small muscle coordination. Participation in cooking, measuring, and messy art to introduce math and science concepts. Circle time activities to establish reading and language concepts. The Preschool is a non-profit corporation, owned and operated by the parents whose children are enrolled in the program. A board, comprised of parents and teachers, determines the policies of the school. A cooperative preschool recognizes that parents are primary educators of their young children. It lets you share your child's first school experience, and help your child take the first steps toward independence. Parents take turns volunteering in the classroom throughout the year (parent- helper). By working with the teacher as parent -helper, you will gain a greater understanding of your own child and children of the same age. You will also have the opportunity to meet and create lasting bonds with your children's friends and their families, one of the most cherished aspects of the co-op approach.
