I have used this provider for less than 6 months

For context my son started at exactly six weeks old. He is the only African American child in his room. There are no other African American children in the infant room so I don’t know if this is a race issue or just how they are. THIS IS A LONG POST: BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-Megan stated she thought my son had thrush (he was 7weeks old at this point), I took him to the drs and he did. I was grateful she told me this. I gave him the medicine at home so I could monitor him on it two hours before sending him to daycare which is usually around 6:30-6:40am. By noon she was messaging me saying he was projectile vomiting, mucus in throw up (while throwing up at least 5oz), mucus in diarrhea, and was fussy. I asked her to try to collect the throw up after feeding him to see if it was that amount and they said they would try and continued to monitor him. Around 2 she messaged saying they would like me to get him because they were “concerned” and asked me to pick him up early. I picked him up at 2:30 from that time until his emergency pediatrician appt at 6:40pm I did not see any of these symptoms AT ALL. His pediatrician stated he was ok to go back and gave him a note for the next day. (After having to get ultrasounds of his stomach ordered because she said he was projectile vomiting. I’ve never seen him do this before). The next day I drop him off to Kelly she is acting as if he might not be able to stay so I spoke with Rolanda and she did not even know what had happened the day before so I wrote a statement & addressed that he was fine when I picked him up and I was annoyed because he did not show any of these symptoms and I had to leave work early and he was completely fine. Megan kept apologizing and saying she’s never seen him like this and was concerned. The next day they sent a paper home for medications to be administered at daycare if the child has an ongoing health condition. I did not fill it out because thrush is not an ongoing condition that will require that form.
-Next incident when he was 10 weeks old Natalie messaged me saying he was only eating 2-2 1/2oz and that she was concerned. Natalie asked if he had thrush and I said no I had his pediatrician check the previous Monday and he cleared him. I looked at the log on the app and they were feeding him every time he woke up from a 2-2 1/2 hour nap I reminded her that he eats every three hours 4 1/2-5oz so I asked her was she giving him enough time to actually be hungry. I did not receive a response but i was receiving updates when he used the bathroom or took a nap/woke up from one. This was around 2:30 I usually pick him up around 4:30 so when I picked him up I spoke with Victoria and she stated that he was eating fine and just finished a full bottle. Natalie was no longer there. I spoke with Rolanda and addressed that I did not get a response and that no one could ever be concerned about my child more than me so how was she concerned but did not message me back when I was asking questions. I wrote another statement as well. She stated she would address the situation with Natalie. She did write a statement which I read the next day and it seemed like she was playing the blame game. She said she could not message me back because Victoria was overwhelmed with changing diapers and feedings of the other children so she was helping her. She said she knew I was upset with the way things are going in the infant room and that they would try to do better.
-Next incident happened a day later (10weeks old)… I dropped him off at the usual time and took his bottle bag with him. I get a call around 8:30 from Rolanda saying they could not find his bag and was told I was coming back. I told them I never said that how could they think I was coming back when I was going to work. Rolanda said her son and husband said that. She asked me to check my car for the bag I did even though I knew for a fact I took it in the building. She said they would look at the cameras after basically saying she knew her son and husband wasn’t lying. The son hardly even speaks English. I said I wouldn’t drop him off without everything he needed. She asked me where I put the bag I said on the table. When she was telling her staff that was there she kept saying “according to her” or “she stated” as if I was lying about bringing it. After calling back and forth for about thirty minutes I reminded them that he drinks breast milk and that means his milk was left out for two hours because he got dropped off at 6:30. She asked me to leave two bags of breast milk at the daycare for situations like this and I said no because it shouldn’t have happened anyways and I prefer to prepare the bottles at home. After playing the cameras back they seen I did bring the bottle bag in and said we would have a talk once I picked him up. So when I got him I spoke with Rolanda and said there is too many issues for my child to only be ten weeks there seems like there is always something and at this point I’m ready to remove him. The staff do not communicate with her she seems left out the loop and it’s very unorganized. I did say it seems as if no one wants to do their job here and that there is a problem with me and that I don’t appreciate them trying to make me seem like an irresponsible parent by saying I left his bottle bag. She said I think that is best to remove him and tried to give me recommendations. I told her I did not need the recommendations because I don’t trust them and she asked how long before I found another daycare because she wanted to know when his spot can be replaced. I told her as soon as I find one I would let her know.
-Since all of these incidents I check on him twice a day. Once in the morning and once in the afternoon. When I went to check on him and ask if he was okay megan said “actually he has a temperature “. (13 weeks old now). I asked since when and she said she checked three times it was 100.4. The week of his last day attending here “suddenly” several of the students and staff members were “sick with a viral infection” according to Megan.. keep in mind this is happening on a Monday. No parents were notified but my child suddenly had a “fever” and I was told to pick him up. She said I’m notifying you now. When I picked him up I was putting him in his car seat and heard Megan talking about how he’s a crybaby, always crying and fussy to Rolanda and I told her before speaking about someone’s child in a open space she should make sure they had departed. She’s unprofessional and maybe the reason he cry’s is because he can sense her negative energy/spirit and is not comfortable. I told them I don’t understand how once again a 13 week old baby causes this many problems and seems as if there is any reason used to get him sent home especially since it is his last week. I did think consoling/comforting a crying child was apart of the job title for the staff members. When I check on him throughout the day she has only said he’s been fussy twice. Megan then tried to apologize but was only apologizing because she was caught. Rolanda did not try to address the situation with me at all. She does not know how to handle any situation or answer questions only stares. The next day (Tuesday) Amanda sent out a notification letting parents know fevers are going around and anything over 100 under the arm is considered a fever. Megan says that she rounds up for temperatures that is why I had to come get him Monday. This would technically be rounding down because it is under .5 but whatever. I did say if you are going to round up make sure that is written in the handbook. Then on Tuesday I found out their air conditioner was down on Monday which was the day he had a “fever” but when I took him to the dr it was 99.5. I sent him to daycare that day in a long sleeve onesie and socks because it is usually cold. Tuesday I heard Rolanda husband say someone is coming to fix the air when I dropped him off. (I did not notice a change in the temperature when entering initially until he said something to a different employee) Maybe he was hot and over heating???? I took him directly to the drs after this and how did his temp drop without any medication to 99.5???? Tuesday when I checked on him at least 3-5x Amanda did say twice he had a low grade fever of 99.3 & 99.4 from his ears. When I picked him up at 4:40 I said to Tracy he doesn’t seem to have this low grade fever that he supposedly did earlier. She said “hmm he hasn’t had one, did someone say that?” I said “yes this morning I was told that twice”. Amanda was not there but if he was “sick with a fever” why not notify the next staff member that will be watching him so they can be on the lookout??? I believe it was a lie because I noticed the air was back working. So maybe he was hot??? Who knows.. either way the son that owns this daycare but is never there does not even realize his family and terrible staff will be the destruction of his business.
Once again another incident on the second to last day at this daycare. Amanda called saying he had a fever. When I picked him up I brought in a thermometer to see if I got the same temp. I asked them to check his temperature and when Megan tried the thermometer battery was low. It kept saying 99.1 then low and turned off. I said how are you checking his temperature with a thermometer that doesn’t work properly. She said she used another thermometer as well I told her to try with that once because all of his stuff was packed up like they were ready for him to go like he was a bother. When I checked his temperature with Rolanda present it was 98.1. Rolanda said he could stay for the rest of the day but I said no because I already had to leave work and was upset. I asked them why did they say he had a fever if he did not. She kept apologizing and couldn’t even answer the question. Rolanda began to say it was verbal abuse against her employees and that she would call the police. I left from inside the building and called them myself. TERRIBLE DAYCARE. THEY ARE FRAUDULENT AND ONLY WANT MONEY BUT WILL SEND YOUR CHILD HOME FOR NO REASON .
Pros: they log on an app where you can track your child throughout the day.

Cons: No communication amongst the staff and they will make it seem like your child is VERY sick. They also don’t take children that have serious health conditions or disabilities because they are not trained to care for them but will try to self diagnose your child every chance they get. Rolanda made sure Natalie made a statement but did not require it for her son & husband that lost my child’s bottle bag. Megan does not talk kindly about children or parents in an open space which can make it hard to trust them with any children for that matter. No wonder why they are the ONLY daycare with open spots in the area. Don’t notify parents to be on the lookout for symptoms if there are several others sick in the class with the same symptoms or notify in general. Staff does not want to do job. Instead of saying child isn’t adapting well will constantly create a problem to run you off. I also asked at the end of each day when picking him up how was he and they always said good so not understanding when is the fussiness or how he is a crybaby is coming into effect. They’re all passive aggressive and don’t address any situation head on, will give you the run around then when you express frustration will do nothing but apologize and stutter. Tracy have done well with my kid but everyone else I wouldn’t even chance it. Very understaffed as well!!!! No accountability!!!!!! VERY unorganized!!!!!!! Sucks when you know you have no choice but to send your child up until you can switch. He only stayed so long because I was on the waitlist for other places until they have open spots in August.

I have used this provider for more than 6 months

Do not use this place under the new name what so over. The owners are money hungry. Classes are never in ratio, they have been reported to state multiple times. Don't put your children thru the abuse.

great place Feb 10, 2015

The stressed mom above had a spot held for the end of Oct.2014. I contacted her after Thanksgiving b/c she never started. She lost her job failed to contact the center and Yes lost her spot for end of October. Then called when she finally found a job the middle of Jan. 2015 and wanted that Oct. 2014 spot. A spot that was not paid for for 20 weeks! Daycares do not hold spots for people "looking" for jobs. I already held it from Aug. 2014 till the end of Oct.2014 unpaid. Come and visit us and you be the judge!

Stressed Mom Jan 15, 2015

Julie, the director at The Learning Tree, has TERRIBLE communication skills. She did not answer emails ever until I called her several times. I had a spot reserved for my daughter and she gave it up without telling me until I was about to bring her in there. Then I had to frantically try to find another daycare in the middle of winter. Julie made the whole experience awful for a first time mom who was nervous about daycare anyway. I will say that the facility is nice and clean and the teachers seemed nice. It's a shame Julie single-handily ruined it.
