Provider Response: (Contact the State Licensing Office for more information.) Maintenance will be contacted to repair the peeling paint in the cafeteria and on the building in the outdoor play area. The peeling paint outside will be covered until it can repainted if need be. All staff will visually check the areas where children receive care daily for safety. Any concerns will be brought to the director's attention. Monthly safety inspections of the facility will continue to be conducted and all areas will be addressed as needed. |

Noncompliance Area: Staff # 1 indicated she punished child # 1 by slapping the child in the mouth with two fingers after the child attempted to bite her. Staff # 1 stated she would also slap child # 1 with 2 fingers on the child's hand if the child acted out. Correction Required: A facility person may not use any form of physical punishment, including spanking a child. The legal entity must arrange for Facility Person #1 to receive a minimum of 2 hours of PQAS approved training regarding appropriate redirection and discipline of children in daycare. It does not matter if the PQAS approved training is through the regional Key. The legal entity must receive DPW approval of the training content prior to scheduling the training. |
