I'm so disappointed in what goes on in this daycare. I feel bad for both the parents and children. Nothing but negative complaints about this daycare. It was so bad the first time I saw this daycare, I told my daughter to wait until a great daycare came around, due to worry/fear of how her baby would be treated there. Ratio is far understaffed, deceivement to parents, etc. I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE CALLED A DAYCARE. I would really hope the Owner could get it together before she gets shut down.
I'm a childcare provider, teacher and mother of three. My youngest daughter started attending Rivendell 8 months ago. My daughter went twice a week, for three to five hours per day.
The reason for my negative review is because of the teachers lack of communication. The last 8 months I rarely heard from Charley's teachers pertaining to her adjustment at school. When I did hear from her teachers they always said how much they loved her.
To my surprise on March 15th I had a text saying Charley was having a hard day. I knew she was teething her 7th tooth and she had been fussy even at home with her teething. I returned the teachers phone call and I was told that Charley just wasnt settling in the last few months. This was news to me! I was asked if we could bring her in for longer amounts of time during the day to help her settle in. I said of course. Before we were given the chance to have her stay all day, I received AN EMAIL on March 19th informing us that the 22nd of March would be her last day. I was told she wasn't finding " peace or happiness" at Rivendell. Being a full time teacher and a mom of three young children with very little resources for childcare in Durango you can imagine the disappointment, hurt and stress that put on our family.
My 10 month baby is easy going, happy and cries very little with others. I can't understand what is going on at Rivendell that she wouldn't be happy except that the ratio for teachers per babies is not high quality, it might be legal, but not quality practice. 10 babies to 2 teachers may not be the environment my baby or your baby would need to thrive and be happy.
So for interested families looking for childcare I would not recommend or rely on Rivendell because of poor communication from teachers, and a high ratio of infants to teachers.
