Description: Sunny Day Preschool offers a unique, creative preschool program with a personalized touch. We strive to make our program culturally diverse through wall art, dress up clothing, diverse toys, books and puzzles as well as themes, art and cooking experiences that explore the world around us.
We choose a combination of child directed and teacher directed developmentally appropriate activities for optimal development. Our curriculum keeps a balance between the four growth areas: social, emotional, intellectual and physical. Our programming is well thought out and planned carefully to meet each child’s individual needs.
Sunny Day provides an environment rich in literacy. We offer real-life and purposeful opportunities daily for children to use oral language to increase their potential for academic success. Children in our four year old classes develop their writing skills with weekly journal writing and drawing.
We connect one on one with each child daily, forming loving, respectful relationships. We are accepting of each family and their uniqueness. We always speak positively about families to the children. We are available to answer parents’ questions and concerns on a daily basis. Parents are always welcome in the classroom. We offer many opportunities throughout the year for families to take part in our program, such as Dad’s night and our Thanksgiving sharing soup day.
All members of our staff are college trained and experienced in early childhood. Teachers continue to expand their knowledge by regularly attending workshops and conferences. Criminal background checks are done on all staff. All staff is certified in CPR and First Aid as well as Blood Pathogens.
The Director/Owner is Cindy Winther. She graduated with honors with an early childhood degree from Baker College and has twenty-five years experience working with young children. She was named Teacher of the Year from Metro Parent magazine, won the Governor’s Award for Quality Care, was honored as a Diversity Champion and has had teaching ideas published in four early childhood books.
