Qualified, caring staff works collaboratively to foster the spiritual, social, emotional, education and physical development of children through modeling Christian Virtues, Family Values, Guided, creative play, Positive social interaction, Effective parent communication and community involvement.
Additional Information: Summit Learning Academy race Church is proud to have within its walls the area's premier faith-based pre-school for children ages 2-5. Director Virginia Pokryfke and her dedicated staff offer a stimulating learning environment where individual attention is stressed. Summit serves as an on-site education learning facility. Early Childhood Education students from Illinois Valley Community College use Summit Learning Academy for course observations, field work, and student teaching practicum.
Young children are constantly developing a sense of initiative, curiosity, and creativity. On a daily basis opportunities are provided for large group, small group, and individualized learning. Hands-on learning develops knowledge, skills, and abilities in the domains of art, fine motor, math, science, social studies, and dramatic play. Afternoon enrichment incorporates Spanish, Sign Language, and Nutrition. Handwriting Without Tears and Starfall are purchased curricula that are used to supplement children's learning.
