We started our boy at Skool Days when he was one year old. When we showed up our first day I recognized several of the staff as customers from the gourmet grocery store in Draper where I had once worked. Skool Days building is always at a perfect temperature, all the rooms are carpeted and clean, the staff are always super nice and well educated in teaching and nurse RN qualities. We took our boy, age one year seven months, out of this perfect setting to a Lutheran day care that clamed to be affiliated with Challenger but not so they just recommended Challenger, Challenger did not recommend them? First day at the Lutheran, I saw a child slip and slammed his head on the hard cement floor they have many uncarpeted rooms, the front desk lady was decked out painting her finger nails defiantly more interest in getting a date or what is going on in the church up stairs over what was going on in the day care in the basement? We go down stairs and my boy runs in a room full of kids and starts playing with them looking right at home but the teacher informs us that his group is down the hall not here. We go down the hall and enter the room to find infants crawling no walking children or talking or potty train children like ours, our boy was 4 inches taller then the rest? I said to the watcher "This can't be correct? this can't be my boys group." She said " it is, there are several older children that will be starting soon" BIG LIE no older toddlers ever showed up? After a week I went and spoke with the man in charge and told him my son needed to be moved and the priest told me that he had been in charge of day cares for years and knew what he was doing and that my son would learn to be gentle with the younger children and that he would put us on a waiting list for the 2 year old group. PACK OF LIES, there was no waiting list because they only have one two year old group and it already had 2 children under two, which is the max in a group of six, all other kids have to be 2 years old or more by law. Soon after this I got reports of my son ripping toys out of other smaller children's hands, dragging non walking infant's by their hair across the ground. My son had NOT learned how to be gentle but had been turned in to the class bully. I tried to tell the holey one that this would happen. Then five days in a row my boy comes home with bite marks. The smaller children had resorted to biting in self defense. I call the licensing people about this and ask them if having a child bitten five times is acceptable and some of my other concerns along with telling the licensing person that I was told by the head man "I have ran day cares for years". I told her he must have started running day cares when he was fifteen because he looked so young. This comment helped her guessed who I was talking about and she asked me if I wanted to file a formal complaint I said "no, I will work this out between him and I no need to ruffle any feathers. Well, either the license lady was good friends with this man of god or they went to his day care at his church to investigate my allegations and probably when one of the licensing people commented on a child being bitten five days in a row the Lutheran man in charge put two and two together and knew we were the complainers. The following week when I picked up my boy the day care person who had allowed the other children to bite my boy said "Your boy is covered from head to toe with bruises" I say "they are red rash spots, not black and blue bruises, caused by an allergic reaction to antibodies given to him for his cold. You know this, we left you cream in your frig to put on them". My boy and I then left and went home. The next day my wife calls me and tells me that the Child Protective Services called her and said that someone reported me as being drunk when I picking up my son and that my boy looked like he had been beaten!. I have never hit my son! I went to a drug testing facility and had an alcohol test, observed, that shows up to 80 hours prior if any alcohol was ingested it had only been 48 hours since the care taker falsely accused me and of course it was negative. Later that day a worker for the CPS stopped by my home and said he was there to take pictures of the bruises on my son. He looked my boy over head to toe and said I need not take any pictures there is not a single mark on your son. I told him that the day care lady who watched my son had falsely accused me out of revenge for her getting in trouble for allowing my son to be bitten five days in a row or that the head man had told her to say this because the licensing people had come and check on him and leaked out that I was the complainer even though I never formally filed a complaint. It was a real shame because I was gun ho to take my son out of their daycare the week before but decided to forgive then and give them another chance. They wanted a whole months notice so I would have had to pay for a whole month to remove him even though I believed my son was in an unsafe environment and that they should forefoot this fee due to the circumstances they would not!. I forgave them and then they lied? I contacted my lawyer and tried to file a deformation of character law suit against them with my clean observed alcohol test and lots of other incriminating evidence only to find out that I could not! you see the state will never prosecute a caretaker due to the impact on all other caretakers becoming scared to report to the CPS incidences due to a fellow care taker getting convicted. I made my lawyer get the file on me which said "No evidence of any of these allegations were found" along with there false statements. I asked my lawyer to demand to be able to add a what really happened paragraph to my fraudulent record of false accusations only to be told I could not. If this is what men of god do I don't know if I would laugh myself sick or throw up if I sat in for a Sunday church session with this man in his church of god. Bottom line: If you see children slip and slam their heads on the daycares cement floors, or the front desk person is dress to get a date rather then nurse dressed to give advice on the difference between a bruise and a rash, or when you walk by the bathroom you see no privacy a open door with a child peeing in a toilet, or you notice that your child does not fit in correctly with the other toddlers in the group they assign, or if you child gets bitten many time immediately get your child out of there even if it means paying for a whole month of no care. And don't call the licensing people about complaints until after you remove your child from the day care. We since have returned after this mess to the wonderful Skool Days facility and staff in Sandy and are once again very happy with the service they provide. Parent seeking day care pay attention don't learn the hard way like we did! "Go to Skool Days no worries"!
