Two of my children attended this center for close to a year. There is a mother/daughter team that are the owner & manager. They talk a good talk but there is little follow through. There is high teacher turnover, bathrooms in need of repair/improvement and an overall lack of leadership and quality educational experiences. The outside play area for my toddler was an asphalt blacktop with a chain link fence around it and a few used ride on toys. That is it.
My toddler came home from daycare with significant bruising on his legs one day and after calling DSS, 2 teachers were charged with child abuse and lost their jobs. 3 other teachers resigned that week. DSS and CPS watched video footage of what happened in the room. My child was buckled into a chair for the majority of an 8 hour day. He spent time crying and trying to get out of the chair and the adults ignored him. The adults in the room would unbuckle him to change his diaper and then buckle him back in. The other toddlers in the room would bring him books and toys and sit with him while the adults ignored him. When he was able to climb out of the buckled chair, an adult would sit him back in the chair and buckle him back in. Apparently he was buckled into the chair as a consequence for biting another child. The owner (mom of the mother/daughter team) bought a helmet a few weeks before this incident happened and told staff and myself that she bought it for my son - her thought was he would have to wear the helmet so he couldnt bite other kids. 2 staff people told me that the owner forced the helmet on my child’s head while he was crying and screaming and that she tried to make him wear it. There is no gray area about the mistreatment that happened to my child. Neither the mother nor daughter who are in charge of the center ever apologized for what happened nor did they take responsibility for the incident happening at their center.
This daycare center does not provide a safe or educational experience for children. It should be shut down.
