Daily activities shall promote the development of skills, social competence and self-esteem. Daily experiences shall recognize the child as an individual and give some choice of activities that respect personal privacy, lifestyle and cultural background.

Noncompliance Area: In the child care space, empty plastic shopping bags were observed in a storage cube on a shelf by the sliding glass door and the pad on the changing table was torn with exposed foam, accessible to children who are still placing objects in their mouths.

Correction Required: Toys and objects with a diameter of less than 1 inch, objects with removable parts that have a diameter of less than 1 inch, plastic bags and styrofoam objects may not be accessible to children who are still placing objects in their mouths.

Noncompliance Area: The following hazards were observed on outdoor surfaces accessible to children: there was a sharp wooden stake protruding from the ground by a sapling and a large hole that had been dug for planting that was filled with water in the outdoor play space; and a small damaged area on vinyl siding and fencing with sharp edges along the outdoor walkway children use to enter the facility.

Correction Required: Floors, walls, ceilings and other surfaces, including the facility's outdoor play area, shall be kept clean, in good repair and free from visible hazards.
