Description: We opened our West Jordan facility called Serengeti Explorers in August of 2008. Our parent company 'Young Explorers' was established in 1998. Many of our excellent staff have been with us from the beginning and remain dedicated to the quality care and education of our children. Our goals to improve our individual child assessment will be guided by the Preschool Observation Checklist& Assessment Tool (POCET) created by Early Childhood Education Specialist John Funk. Though all our facilities were built within an Apartment Community our enrollment is open to the public! The unique 'residential' location allows us to to enjoy supervised parks, playgrounds, swimming pools and recreational areas. This year we begin a self-study & assessment process to seek National Accreditation through NAEYC.
Where possible, ChildcareCenter provides inspection reports as a service to families. This information is deemed reliable, but is not guaranteed. We encourage families to contact the daycare provider directly with any questions or concerns, as the provider may have already addressed some or all issues. Reports can also be verified with your local daycare licensing office.

Nice facility but unhappy with the way it is run. My child was sick and they still had him/her outside playing on the playground when it was barely 34 degrees outside. The Pre-Kindergarten teacher, we will call her "K", is constantly glued to her phone. Once I watched her for at least 10 minutes and she never looked up from her phone to check on the kids. The daycare director was in the room as well, and on her phone as well. After staring at her she finally put hers away but never said anything to the teacher in whose room i was leaving my child. I also saw her one Friday talking on her phone while driving the van that picks the children up from school. I would think there would be a rule against doing this. And if your child goes to one school in particular you can expect them to be waiting at least 10-15 minutes after school is out for the van to get there and pick them up. Also, my child has had 2 different teachers within the last 5 months for the class he/she is in. The last teacher I actually liked...she would take the time every day and explain to me in detail what they did that day and if there were ever any problems with my child. She was always doing crafts and playing new games with them, which was a change from how the others teachers simply put the children into play areas and leave them there playing until their parents arrive. I think what she was fired for, or at least the excuses they gave to she and I, is ridiculous. Yes, she was very stern with the children in what she was trying to explain and get them to understand, but sometimes that is simply what it takes to correct a situation. She was told she was not ready emotionally to have a job since she had cried a couple of times at work, but on the day that she had this talk with the children she was in tears after breaking her tooth, so she was hurting, but she was made to stay at work. She had also been made to work when her child, who also attended the daycare, was very sick and had a fever. Why is it that no one could fill in for her when I know there were several occassions when she went in as soon as she was called to cover for other people. Also, they would make her leave when there were only 8 children left, at which time one of the other teachers was left with the children. I would prefer that when I arrive to pick up my child, their actual teacher is there with them. All in all I am very unhappy with this facility, and as soon as I am able I will be pulling my child from here.
