I have used this provider for less than 6 months
This review pertains to the Polaris Learning Center in Nampa, since they do not have their own page. When my daughter was taken on a tour before registering my grandson, she was taken to the toddler room, where it was nap time. There were three adults and she was told that was the typical ratio for the amount of children in that room. She was also told there would be structured activities throughout the day, meals and snacks would be provided and that the children would be engaged in play time.
Thank goodness for the Kid Cam and I’m quite surprised they let anyone have access, after what we saw!
• First thing we saw was ONE worker for EIGHT toddlers.
• The only structured activity that may have occurred was when they took a couple of kids out of the room for exactly 20 minutes. We say MAY have occurred since we had no Kid Cam access to where he was taken.
• When the worker took a child to the bathroom, the other seven were left to fend for themselves.
• During the morning meal/snack, our grandson spilled his drink and after cleaning it up, he wasn’t given anything else. In fact, for the full 8+ hours he was there, he got NOTHING else to drink. At lunch, the worker was too busy picking up toys on the other side of the room, she couldn’t see that two other kids ate our grandson’s meal.
• After lunch, the kids were corralled into the lunch area for 45 minutes while the worker rearranged the room for nap time.
• At nap time, the kids slept with their shoes on. I didn’t even want to think about where their shoes have been as my grandson’s face was touching the cot!
• After nap time, the kids were corralled in a circular couch area while the worker put the room back in order, for 30 minutes. They had no toys and were jumping on top of each other. My grandson sustained a bite on his arm, which left deep bruising!!!
• The rest of the day the kids wandered around, playing with toys, some were lying on the floor, rolling back and forth, by themselves.
At NO time were the kids engaged in ANY activities such as reading or singing. To top it off, when my daughter decided this place was not a fit for her child, she was given the response that this was a typical first day of daycare for a toddler. They deducted two weeks of fees from her refund and no apology was issued.
