Description: Michael Murphy, Director (left) and David Hopkins (right) are the caring individuals who plan art and craft projects, organize games, sports activities, and supervise the children playing indoors or out on the playground. They have expertise in physical fitness, movement, drama, art and environmental education. They will also drive the children to any Piedmont Recreation Department class.
Schoolmates has a special program for the Kindergarteners. The staff creates age appropiate art projects, plan occasional small excursions, and make them hot lunches on Mondays.
Schoolmates is open during many of the Holiday Breaks. In the summer, they are located at the Summer School Site. They plan a wide variety of activities and in addition, go to the Piedmont Pool for swimming.
Havens Schoolmates is located at the entrance across from City Hall. The cost is $6.25/hour; 4 hrs. or more per day is $6.00/hour. Drop-in is $8.75/hour and the rate with a drop-in card is $8.00/hour. Parents fill out a monthly schedule in which it can be adjusted at no charge when necessary.
