I have used this provider for less than 6 months

What a lovely home and neighborhood with an outdoor area just right for little people. At first sight, the equipment is visible to the eye as you come into the home. the staff is loving but strict and that folks is exactly what my son needed. He has come home now following directions and improved in his behavior. The ladies provide meals made on site. Compared to other day cares, the rooms are very large and bright. The big hit is the celebration and up beat personalities of the ladies. My child comes home with paint, markers dirt and I love, love it. To me, it’s a sign of quality engagement. My child has plenty of toys at the center and friends to socialize. As for the violations, so be it. They correct it and the focus is the kids. Totally works for me and my kid. I wanted a small clean environment with flexibility of drop off and pickup times..... I got it here without paying over a grand a month. Structure, safety and stability is what I wanted and I got it with Nurturing Steps.

Abusive and Aggressive Daycare 2018-10-29 14:54:09
I have used this provider for more than 6 months

They are charming in the beginning - Teacher Lily was the best.  Lily left the daycare after the 2016 ACS case against the daycare and that's when their true colors started to emerge - they have no compassion, warmth or patience when dealing with small children and they have THREE ACS cases against them to date. They have numerous violations including inappropriate behavior toward a child.  The violations include their roach infested kitchen - "they are dirty" - that direct quote is from the mouth of the daycare's LICENSOR - they feed the kids stale/old food. They are very aggressive, abusive, neglectful and constantly yell at the children. The older toddlers are always on time out.  Please keep your children away from this place - check out all their violations on the OCFS website (they are not only paperwork related)  This is a mom and daughter operation.  The mom Linda is a master manipulator, liar and loud mouth who yells all day. The daughter Jen who is the owner has been called out by various children on her abuse toward them.  If I could give ZERO stars I WOULD - This place is a tragedy waiting to happen and they need to be SHUT DOWN ASAP!

I have been very happy with the care my children have received at Nurturing Steps. My daughter has experienced real leaps in her ability and education in the last six months, and is always happy to go in the morning. They do a great job engaging the children, and are truly outstanding in setting up special fun activities for hte children.

I highly recommend Nurturing Steps Family Daycare. As a first time mom the thought of finding a daycare for my daughter (who had been at home with a nanny for 1 year and a half) was terrifying. Nurturing Steps Daycare is a warm and homely daycare. Ms. Linda and Ms. Jennifer are loving and they care for each child as if they were their own. My daughter loves them and is all smiles when I drop her off and cries when it's time to go home (sometimes). My daughter has only been at Nurturing Steps for 6 months, but it feels longer. In the short time that my daughter has been there she has gone to see elmo in concert, been on the funbus, rode on a pony, went trick or treating, and of course brought home numerous art projects. In response to a previous review, my daughter attends this daycare five days a week and I have never witnessed anyone "hanging out". In the mornings during drop off you may encounter a parent or two, but that's to be expected. I have never encountered any "unrecognizable minors" when dropping off or picking up my daughter. My daughter comes home dirty, because they are involved in various activities or projects. If my daughter came home clean everyday I would probably question the daycare. This is a daycare with toddlers. Toddlers and mess are synonymous. When choosing a daycare you have to choose what's best for the needs of your family. My daughter is happy so that means I am happy. When I am at work I don't have to worry if she's in good hands, because I know she is.

First of all I strongly disagree with Displeased... Nurturing Steps Daycare is located in a really nice neighborhood in Yonkers, NY. My child has been attending this in home daycare for 2 year and I LOVE IT!!!!! I'm comfortable with the staff. They do alot of activities with the kids, indoor and outdoors, it doesn't bother if my child gets a lil dirty after all they are kids. They also celebrate each child birthday and the holidays for the kids. It's great the owner and her mom are in charge of the kids and they are great with them they are caring and the quality of there food its great highly recommend this place..

I do not suggest any children to attend this facility, It was more of hang out for the owner, her friends and her daughters friends, most of the time at pick up my child was being monitored by an unrecognizable minor. My child would come home dirty, they don't have a play area (outdoors) for the kids they would roll around in mud in the little section in front of the house. on the upside of this facility; they were big on celebrations and holidays for the kids but that's about it.
