Our Vision
Our guiding vision at North Charleston United Methodist Church Learning Center holds that each child is a gift from God and shall be made to feel secure in God's abiding love and care.
Each child is a unique person with special needs and abilities. Our goal is to encourage the growth of the "whole child." A daily schedule, which includes a balance of teacher-directed and child-directed activities, serves to reinforce, enrich, and challenge in an environment where each child is respected as an individual. Our all day child care program includes an academic curriculum that provides a range of age- appropriate learning centers, group activities, individual instruction, and plenty of fun learning experiences. The children learn such things as shapes, colors, numbers, counting, letters and sounds, weather and seasonal changes, listening and following directions, and pencil and scissor control. All children learn either sign language or Spanish.

Connect, Seek Advice, Share Knowledge
The NCUMC Learning Center has a new name and a dynamic new image to match. With the hiring of a new director in July 2012, the pre-school and kindergarten programs have once again reached sought-after status in the Charleston area. Under the new leadership, all pre-school and kindergarten classes have new focus on academics geared to the need of each child. In addition, the school lunch program is now master-minded by a graduate of Johnson and Wales Culinary Institute, whose attention to fresh fruits and vegetables is evident in every lunch served. Along with a complete renovation of the Learning Center facility, a new playground with the latest in surfacing (astro-turf over a padded sub-surfacing) will be in place by the end of April 2013. I wish I had pre-school-age grandchildren who could learn, play, and be cared for in this thoroughly re-newed facility.
