I was helping a friend by dropping her child off during the afternoon for daycare. When I arrived, I was greeted by a teacher who was eating her lunch. I signed my friend's child in then proceeded to take him to his classroom. When I got to the classroom, there were two children there and no teacher. After about a minute went by one of the teachers who was eating lunch walked by the classroom & I asked her if there was suppose to be a teacher here & she said, she is next door cleaning tables, then kept walking. I thought maybe she would let the teacher know I was there waiting for her, but no teacher came. After a couple minutes of waiting I took my friends child next door with me to get her. She was washing tables & seemed to be in no hurry to get back to her classroom. I have a bachelors degree in elementary education & early childhood education & I know that it is never ok to leave children unattended, even for a few seconds in a childcare setting. Those tables could have been washed when there were enough teachers back from their lunch so there could have been a teacher supervising those children or she could have taken the two children with her to that classroom while she was cleaning. That's just good common sense. I was not at all impressed with this center.
