Violation Observed: On the day of the inspection a staff person under the age of 18 was observed bringing a child into the building to go to the bathroom. Staff must be a minimum of 18 years of age to be alone with children. Ensure staff are 18 years of age or older when taking children into the building.

Violation Observed: Per the Updated COVID-19 Standards- Child Care Centers staff shall ensure that masks are worn on the playground unless it is above 80 degrees, but have their masks on them so they can wear them when they come into close contact with a child. On the day of the inspection the 4 staff members on the playground were not wearing their masks and when they were told that they needed to wear them they did not know that the regulations stated that masks were still needed to be worn outside.

For early childhood programs, the following shall apply for infants (under 18 months of age) and toddlers (18 months to 2½ years of age): if more than 12 infants or 20 toddlers occupy an individual room or a specific area within a large room, areas for up to 12 infants or 20 toddlers shall be defined by visible barriers, partitions, or any other room dividers or separations having a height above the eye level of the children who use those areas.

Violation Observed: Ensure that no more than 20 children are participating in the same activity at the same time. On the day of the inspection children were observed being all directed to conduct the same activities throughout the inspection. When groups are larger than 20, children shall be divided into smaller groups.

Violation Observed: Ensure that all surfaces needing to be washed and disinfected are in fact washed first. On the day of the inspection observation and interview with staff indicated that staff are not using soap and water to first wash required surfaces. Ensure that surfaces are washed first and staff are provided with soap and water solutions.

Violation Observed: Ensure children sit while drinking from their sippy cups. On the day of the inspection children were observed walking around the playground while drinking from their sippy cups.

The schedule for disinfecting shall be as follows: tables used by the children for eating shall be washed and disinfected before each meal.

Violation Observed: On the day of the inspection observation indicated that an infant was seated in a high chair outside and served snack without the high chair having been washed and disinfected before snack being served. Ensure tables, including high chairs, are washed and disinfected before meals are served.

For early childhood programs, the following shall apply: in addition to the items specified in N.J.A.C. 3A:52-7.7(a)3, the following equipment items or surfaces shall be washed and disinfected after each use, toys mouthed by infants and toddlers before being given to another child.

Violation Observed: On the day of the inspection children were seen multiple times mouthing toys and staff did not notice. Ensure staff are actively watching children while they are playing with toys and that these mouthed toys are removed, washed and disinfected, before another child can use that same toy.

The sponsor or sponsor representative, and each staff member shall complete a signed consent form provided by the Department that indicates the identifying information necessary to conduct a CARI background check, including the person’s name, address, date of birth, sex, race, and Social Security number. Violation Observed: Previously approved director is no longer full time at the center for over a year. Submit education and experience for a director that will be at the center for a minimum of 50% of the operational hours.

Violation Observed: Submit education and experience for the head teacher. Additionally, this previously selected head teacher does not work during the summer and is absent from the center for the allowable six weeks and therefore another head teacher will be necessary during this part of the year.
