McKenzie Montessori Institute is a private, independent, non-profit educational facility for children 6 weeks to 12 years of age. Our current programs include: Infant/Toddler, Montessori Preschool & Kindergarten, Elementary On-line Tech Support, Quality childcare for before and after school programs, and for most public school closure days. Our goal is to educate the whole child through the Montessori approach which addresses the intellectual, social, emotional and physical needs of the child.
Montessori is a method of education based on the observations, methods and philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori. This method of education focuses on the development of the whole child in all areas of life, and supports the idea that children possess an innate desire to explore, discover, and learn. This is supported best within a social environment that inspires personal development.
The philosophy of McKenzie Montessori Institute is to encourage the child’s interests and curiosity while developing responsibility and independent thinking that will foster a life-long love of learning.
One of the greatest strengths of our program is the highly trained and qualified teachers who take a personal interest in their students and parents. They care about the whole person and see education as much more than simply the training of fine minds. These dedicated teachers form the foundation of a caring community in which children develop and learn to become responsible, loving human beings.

Great school, great staff, great friends. My son had learned so much because of this school. He had made great long term friendships here as well. He’s been there since he was 8 months old and I plan to keep him through kindergarten. Definitely recommend for parents looking for more than a daycare, but a place that does hands on education
The teachers are good. The owners are burnt out! The owners had NO communication and our child was being sent home a lot. Her DR insisted her immune system is fine. Michelle and Shannon were of no help and when I tried dicussing with one of them, she sat, eating her cereal, and had no interest, pushing me off on the other. You never know who to go to because they always point you the other direction.
We were told they would have a secured facility and when the bad weather hit, the keybox froze. We inquired several times about it getting fixed and they would redirect and not give a definitive answer. There were days the wind would have the "secured door" blown wide open. The door was never fixed by the time we left, which was over a month.
Duringthe end if my child's time there, we were told she was having diahrea and was being sent home A LOT! When I spoke to them I advised that these things were not happening at home and what was going on there? They just kept sending her home.
We have since found a new school for our child. We have been there 5 weeks without any diahrea or getting sent home. My guess is the quality of food is better and the school is cleaner while following ALL state laws.
After my child left the school, I called the state as a concerned parent and advised of our situation and that when sick, we would pick our child up and she would be in the same room as the other kids playing, even with a temperature of 102. The state advised that it's mandatory for all daycare providers to have a separate room with beds/cots for the sick kids to be comfortable until parents arrived. The state was sending an official out to investigate more on this matter.
Bottom line is that we found a school that was cheaper, included diapers and wipes AND my daughter hasn't been sent home once since being there. PLUS they are already transitioning her to the next age group, which was a huge battle with McKenzie Montessori because they were putting 8 kids in a room that was only coded for 6. When it was my child's turn to move up, she wasn't able to and was held back for months before getting into the next room.
Take the time to find a daycare who's owners are organized and still passionate about their career choice. Dealing with Michelle and Shannon was the worst and I am thankful EVERY day for the new beginnings that have come our way! Our child is happy health and thriving ELSEWHERE!!
